Take Profit Trader Live Account (Pro+) Rules 2026: The Only Firm Where Live Coexists With Funded

Every prop firm in the futures space follows the same live transition model: pass evaluation, trade funded, get pulled into live, lose all your other accounts. Take Profit Trader rewrote the rulebook.

TPT is the only major futures prop firm where your live account (called “Pro+”) can operate simultaneously alongside your funded Pro accounts and even your evaluation Test accounts. Nothing gets closed. Nothing gets merged. Each account exists in its own independent lane.

This structural difference makes TPT’s live system fundamentally different from every competitor — and it demands a completely different strategic approach.

How TPT Triggers the Live Transition

TPT uses performance-based triggers rather than payout-count triggers:

TriggerThresholdCertainty
Single Pro account profit$20,000+ accumulated✅ Hard trigger
Single-day profit exceeding $10,000Watchlist entry⚠️ Accelerates review, doesn’t guarantee
Historical total payouts $50K+ with consistent performance”Distinguished Trader” direct Pro+ qualification⚠️ Rare — at TPT’s discretion

The critical difference from other firms: each Pro account is evaluated independently. If only one Pro account crosses $20K in profits, only that account transitions to Pro+. Your other Pro accounts and Test accounts continue operating normally.

This is a game-changer for portfolio management. You can maintain a mix of Pro accounts (for extraction) and Pro+ accounts (for live trading) simultaneously.

The $10K Single-Day Watchlist

While a single day exceeding $10,000 in profit doesn’t automatically trigger live transition, it places your account on a monitoring list. The practical advice from community experience: keep daily profits under $10,000 per account to avoid accelerated review. There’s no benefit to triggering early scrutiny.

The Frozen Deposit Mechanic

This is TPT’s most unique — and most misunderstood — live mechanism.

When a Pro account transitions to Pro+, TPT freezes $5,000 of your account profits as a security deposit.

Example: Your 150K Pro account has $161,000 in equity ($11,000 in accumulated profits):

  • $5,000 is frozen as a non-withdrawable deposit
  • The remaining $6,000 can be withdrawn immediately
  • You then receive a live Pro+ account starting at $0 balance

This frozen deposit is NOT additional capital you can trade with. It’s TPT’s insurance. If you blow the Pro+ account, the deposit is forfeited.

The Buffer Zone Re-Earn Requirement

Unlike other firms where you can withdraw as soon as your balance is positive, TPT Pro+ accounts require you to re-earn the buffer zone before payouts become eligible. This means you need to generate enough profit to exceed the drawdown threshold — essentially passing a mini-evaluation inside your live account.

For a 150K Pro+ with $4,500 drawdown: your daily-close equity must exceed $4,500 before the account transitions to a static drawdown model. Once your end-of-day balance exceeds the drawdown amount, the account becomes static — meaning your balance just can’t drop below $0 at any point.

The Coexistence Advantage

Live triggers close all other accounts?❌ No✅ Yes
Can hold both funded AND live?✅ Yes❌ No
Can still take evaluations while live?✅ Yes❌ No
Live entry is per-account?✅ Yes, independent❌ No, all accounts move together

The portfolio strategy: Maintain 2-3 Pro accounts for steady extraction at the $10K-$15K profit level (staying under the $20K trigger), while running 1-2 Pro+ accounts for live trading. The total across Pro and Pro+ combined cannot exceed 5 accounts.

The Copy Trading Warning

While trade copying between accounts is technically allowed, TPT strictly prohibits any form of hedging. Since you can hold both Pro and Pro+ accounts simultaneously, there’s a real risk of accidentally creating offsetting positions across account types. Community consensus: do not copy trade between Pro and Pro+ accounts. The risk of an unintentional hedge resulting in a permanent ban outweighs any marginal benefit.

Cooldown After Blowing Pro+

None. TPT has no cooldown period. If your Pro+ account is blown, you can immediately continue trading your existing Pro accounts and purchase new evaluations.

This is the most lenient recovery policy in the industry and dramatically reduces the psychological pressure of the live transition. Blowing a Pro+ doesn’t reset your trading career — it just removes one account from your portfolio.

Who Should Prioritize TPT

TPT’s live structure is best suited for:

  • Experienced traders who want to maintain a diversified portfolio across funded and live accounts
  • Traders with sufficient capital to absorb the $5,000 frozen deposit without it affecting their strategy
  • Patient traders who can manage the buffer zone re-earn requirement without panic trading

The main drawback: TPT’s Pro (funded) accounts use real-time trailing drawdown (TDD), which is significantly harder to manage than EOD drawdown. Only Pro+ uses EOD. For newer traders, it may be worth building capital at an EOD-drawdown firm first, then migrating to TPT once you have a proven edge.
